The climate

The climate in Campanet shares the same climatic characteristics of the island of Majorca, which is a type of the Mediterranean climate. In the mountains of the north, the climate usually is humid and in the plains of the south it is dry to semi-humid. The rain also follows this scheme: the yearly rainfall measurement lies between the 1100Mm in the mountains of Pas d’en Bisquerra and the 700Mm in the plains.

Furthermore, and following the traits of the island, the rainy days are dispersed throughout the four seasons, and there can be flash flood rains in autumn. In fact, the heaviest rainfall was registered on the 1st October 1973. 207 l/m² were collected in the meteorological Observatory in the spring of Biniatró.

Moreover, the month of October, followed by the months of December, November and January, is the month of the year in which it rains the most. On average it rains 131,4 l/m² in October, unlike the month of July, which is the driest, as it only rains 10,6 l/m² on average. Snowfalls are common on the highest mountains of the municipality, but it rarely snows on the lower mountains or in the plains.

As far as the temperature is concerned, the yearly average lies between 14ºC and 15ºC in the north-east and between 16ºC and 17ºC in the south. Besides, the thermic fluctuation is quite significant as it lies between 15ºC and 15,5ºC, this is so due to the geographical situation.

The strategic location of the town promotes constant winds from the bay of Alcudia. These winds cool in summer and bring the cold in winter. However, the valleys, such as Pla de Tel, keep sheltered.
